 Our
cobbler’s first task when receiving a pair of boots to be resoled
is to “last” [ learn
more ] them. We have lasts that match exactly to most boot models,
and closely approximate other manufacturers’ products.
The last is inserted into the boot and remains
there throughout the resoling process. The old sole is peeled off and
the shank, filler, midsole and welt construction are inspected. Decisions
about replacement or strengthening of these components are made at this
time. After the new soles have been coated with heat-activated cement,
our specialized sole press equipment produces factory-quality bonding
of sole to shoe. Several brands of soles are available.
